AT&T Worker Busts Child Porn Suspect
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- A Lombard man has been arrested on child pornography charges, after an AT&T employee found graphic images on the man's computer while installing service.
Mark Hebert, 52, of the 1000 block of East Charing Cross Road in Lombard, was having Internet service installed on his laptop Tuesday afternoon. While working on the laptop, the AT&T worker found the pornographic images, which allegedly featured young girls in bondage situations, authorities said.
"He just kind of moved the mouse and observed what he thought was child porn on the customer's computer," Lombard police Detective Mike Chudzinski said.
The worker left home and immediately called his boss, who contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That group contacted the Illinois Attorney General's office, which ultimately notified Lombard police, Chudzinski said.
A search warrant was executed at Hebert's home Tuesday afternoon, and Hebert was arrested, according to Chudzinski.
Hebert, who lives with his mother, was previously convicted of criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery to an elderly person, Chudzinski said.
Hebert was ordered held on $200,000 bond Wednesday and will next appear in the DuPage County Court on Jan. 18, followed by arraignment on Jan. 31, DuPage County State's Attorney's office spokesman Paul Darrah said.
