At Least 7 Wounded In Overnight Shootings
CHICAGO (STMW) -- At least seven people were wounded late Saturday and early Sunday in shootings throughout the city.
A 22-year-old man was shot in the back in the 800 block of East 42nd Street about 10:10 p.m. of the Kenwood neighborhood, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. It was initially reported in the 3900 block of South Langley Avenue. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.
A man in his 30s was shot in the back in the 3600 block of West Belmont Avenue of the Avondale neighborhood about 10:17 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. An Albany Park District lieutenant said he may have been talking to an ice cream truck driver when it happened. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight said.
At 10:30 p.m., a male, whose age was not immediately known, was shot in the arm in the 5500 block of South Sacramento Avenue of the Gage Park neighborhood, Gaines said. He was taken in "stable" condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
About 11 p.m., a male was shot in the leg in the 7000 block of South East End Avenue of the South Shore neighborhood, Gaines said. He was taken in an unidentified condition to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center.
A male was shot in the hip in the 5200 block of West Deming Place of the Northwest Side Craigin neighborhood at 11:47 p.m., Gaines said. Hospital and condition information was not immediately available.
A man in his 20s was shot in the back and buttocks in the 2200 block of North Kildare Avenue of the Hermosa neighborhood at 1:10 a.m., Gaines said. The man was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
At 2:15 a.m., a 49-year-old man was shot in the abdomen in the 300 block of East 61st Street of the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood, Gaines said. He was taken in "stable" condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
No one is in custody and area detectives are investigating.
