At Least 6 Injured By Gunfire Across Chicago Overnight
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gunfire rang out on every side of Chicago overnight, leaving at least six people injured.
The latest shooting reported happened around 2:30 a.m. in the North of Howard section of the Rogers Park neighborhood.
The victim, a 42-year-old man, was shot in the hand in a drive-by incident in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street, police said. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in good condition.
The man told police the shots came from a passing light-colored vehicle, police said.
The site where the man was shot is about a block north of the Howard Red Line 'L' terminal.
Around the same time, a man was shot multiple times in the North Lawndale neighborhood. The 30-year-old man was shot in the chest and arm in the 3600 block of West Douglas Boulevard around 2:30 a.m., police said.
Douglas Boulevard runs in lieu of 14th Street between Hamlin Avenue/Independence Boulevard and Douglas Park.
Fifteen minutes earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot in the head in the 8400 block of South Morgan Street, in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood.
The man was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
Around 11:40 p.m. Monday, a 22-year-old man suffered multiple gunshots in the 4200 block of West Wilcox Street, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
He was walking to his car in an alley when a person walked up and shot him, according to police News Affairs. The man then drove himself to the 3400 block of West Madison Street to get help from police.
The man is listed in stable condition at Stroger Hospital of Cook County, police said.
Around 10:15 p.m., a man was shot and wounded in the 7400 block of South Dorchester Avenue, in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. He was shot in the abdomen, and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in stable condition, police said.
In the earliest incident, a 17-year-old boy was grazed by gunfire in the South Chicago neighborhood.
The boy, 17, was shot in the 8300 block of South Houston Avenue about 8:45 p.m. and suffered a graze wound to the buttocks, police said.
He was taken to South Shore Hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Detectives are investigating all the shootings.
