3 Dead, 2 Wounded In Gary Shooting

GARY, Ind. (CBS) -- Three people were shot dead in a drug robbery in Gary, Ind., and police are wondering why in the world a little girl was at the crime scene.
As CBS 2's Susanna Song reports, police received a call around 10:45 p.m. Thursday from a man who said he had been shot in a house at 3829 Washington St. near Ridge Road. The man was able to escape to another house to call police.
The victim directed police to the stucco house, and once inside, officers found three men dead.
The men who were killed were identified as Albert Baber Jr., 37; Gregory Bradshaw, 30; and James Adams Jr., 25, all of Gary, according to the Lake County coroner's office.
Baber and Adams both suffered multiple gunshot wounds, while Bradshaw was shot in the head, according to the coroner's office.
There was also a 4-year-old girl in the house, who was uninjured. She was found helpless and alone on a couch near the bodies.
"Thankfully, she was uninjured, and (Child Protective Services) was contacted and they took custody of the young one," said Gary police Lt. Samuel Roberts. "We have no information right now as to what she said. That's under investigation."
But why was she in the house in the first place?
"She was there with adults," Roberts said. "As to why she was there, we're investigating that."
The girl's father was reportedly one of the men who was killed.
Later, police discovered another man who had been shot in the house. He turned up at a hospital nearby.
The wounded men are 23 and 30 years old. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said there was marijuana and money found in the house, leading them to believe the shooting stemmed from a drug robbery.
"There is a lot of concern when people force their way into homes – if this is what happened – and begin killing people," Roberts said. "We're greatly concerned."
Miranda Griffin moved last month into the neighborhood where the shooting happened. She says she is worried.
"I'm very shocked, very," said neighbor Miranda Griffin, who recently moved to the area. "I mean, it's horrible. That's crazy."
No suspects were in custody as of late Friday morning. It is not known whether one or several offenders are involved.
All morning, detectives interviewed the two surviving men, and hope their answers will lead to the shooter or shooters.
