At Least 1 Dead, 6 Injured In Overnight Shootings
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Violence in Chicago in the overnight hours left at least one person dead and six others injured.
The first reported incident was at 11:57 p.m., when two teenage boys were shot and wounded in the West Side's North Lawndale neighborhood.
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the foot and a 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the 3500 block of West 13th Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines Both teens were taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Gaines said.
In a second incident, a man was shot and killed on the western edge of the Park Manor neighborhood near the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The was discovered shot multiple times on the sidewalk at 2:08 a.m. in the 100 block of West 70th Street, according to police News Affairs.
Antonio Campbell, 35, of the 7200 block of South Sacramento Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2:54 a.m. at the University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
And at 2:12 a.m., four people were shot on a porch in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood. None suffered any serious injuries.
The victims were sitting on a porch in the 7500 block of South Sangamon Street,when the shooter ran up and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
One man was shot in both legs and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in stable condition, Gaines said. A woman was shot in the upper arm and was listed in good condition at Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, he said.
Another man was shot in the thigh and is also listed in good condition at Saint Bernard Hospital, police said. A third man was shot in the arm and refused medical attention, police said.
The victims refused to cooperate with investigators after the shooting, police said.
No one was reported in custody in any of the shootings as of mid-morning Thursday.
