At-Home Massage Therapist Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Client

(STMW) -- An at-home massage therapist already on supervision for attacking a female client is again facing accusations of sexually assaulting another woman who sought his services, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.

Gilberto Carrera's most recent victim went to his Albany Park residence with a male friend who told her about Carrera after he had received his business card from a colleague at work, Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Joe DiBella said.

The 38-year-old woman had gone to Carrera on June 22 because she had injured her ankle, DiBella said.

The friend who had accompanied the woman was in the room during the entire incident but could not see Carrera touch her inappropriately, DiBella said during Carrera's bail hearing Tuesday.

The friend did, however, hear the victim tell Carrera it hurt before she kicked him and was able to leave Carrera's house in the 4600 block of North Harding Avenue, DiBella said.

The woman had taken off all her clothes except for her underwear before Carrera started the session, DiBella said.

While she was face down on a mattress, Carrera, a 64-year-old grandfather, allegedly pulled off her underwear and rubbed her buttocks.

Carrera continued to rub the woman's body when she turned over, touching her breasts over her bra, DiBella said.

He then had the woman sit on a chair. There, he rubbed her thighs, placed his hand inside her underwear and assaulted her several times, DiBella said.

The woman told Carrera to stop at least twice and when she tried to move away, Carrera pushed down on her thighs so hard she couldn't get up, DiBella said.

But she eventually was able to hit him and free herself, DiBella said.

The woman told her friend what had happened minutes after they left Carrera's house, DiBella said.

She also told another friend what had happened and went to the doctor the next day because she felt pain in her groin, DiBella said.

The woman also suffered bruising to her thighs.

Carrera allegedly admitted to police that "he had a problem."

He was also identified in a photo array by the victim and her friend who was with her the night they visited Carrera, DiBella said.

Last August, Carrera was sentenced to 18 months of court supervision after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery for an assault on another client.

Judge Peggy Chiampas on Tuesday recommended Carrera be released on his own recognizance and placed on electronic monitoring while he awaits trial.

If he isn't eligible for electronic monitoring, Carrera will be held on $100,000 bail for criminal sexual assault.

The judge told Carrera that he cannot perform any massages while his case is pending.

"There will be no massaging of anybody. … Do you understand?" Chiampas said as a Spanish-speaking interpreter explained conditions of the bond to Carrera.

"Yes," Carrera responded.
