"We're doing this to sort of give back to Chicagoans who support the museums with their tax dollars," said spokeswoman Erin Hogan.
If you can't make it during January, the museum will be free all day on the first and second Wednesdays of every month starting on June 1 through Dec. 14.
Also, starting Feb. 10, admission will be free on Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. through May 26.
Those lucky enough to take advantage of the free admission will have a chance to see John Marin's Watercolors, which is set to open at the end of January. Hogan describes him as an early modern american artist, whose many pieces of art have not been made public just yet. The exhibit opens Jan. 23.
