Art Institute Of Chicago Awarding Honorary Doctorate To Kanye West
CHICAGO (CBS) -- In a recent interview, Kanye West revealed he'll soon be invalidating the title to his debut album The College Dropout thanks to the Art Institute of Chicago.
In May, West will be obtaining an honorary doctorate from the famous Chicago school. He revealed this in an interview with Clique, saying, "I'm actually getting an honorary doctorate on May 5th from the Art Institute of Chicago."
In the conversation, which lasted more than half an hour, the Chicago rapper spanned multiple subjects. He even compared his work ethic to Chicago hero Michael Jordan's training to stay the best at the height of his career: "I've grown, I went to the gym like Michael Jordan like when he was going to win his championships and everything. He had to get stronger to go up against the Pistons, and things like that. We're going up against major hit makers and stuff."
Before becoming a famous rapper, West attended college for painting, then English. He dropped out at 20, releasing his monstrously successful debut album four years later.
West's mother had a doctorate of her own in English Education. At one point, Dr. Donda West was the chair the Department of English and Speech at Chicago State University, a position she held for six years.
It seems unlikely West will follow in the footsteps of his mother and become a professor.
