Armed Masked Men Invade Burr Ridge Home, Attack Woman And 5 Kids
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three masked men—one armed with a handgun—broke into a home Tuesday night in west suburban Burr Ridge, then struck and restrained a woman and her children while searching the home.
A woman and her five children, ages 3 to 19, were at their home in the 8300 block of Clyndervan Road about 10:20 p.m. when she was startled by three masked males, according to Burr Ridge police.
One of the suspects was armed with a back and gray semiautomatic handgun, police said. All three were wearing hoods and their faces were covered by masks.
They searched the home for valuables for 10 about minutes, then left.
The woman and three of the children were either struck or held down by the men, police said. Paramedics treated them at the scene, but no one was hospitalized, a statement from police said.
Police searched the home and the surrounding area with a K-9 officer from the Willowbrook Police Department. The dog and its handler found that the suspects likely fled drove away in a vehicle that was parked nearby.
A crime scene technician from the DuPage County sheriff's office also processed the home for evidence.
"At this preliminary stage of our investigation, it does not appear that this was a random act," police said.
