Arlington Heights police investigate jewelry store robbery
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (CBS) – Robbers smashed and ransacked a display case at a jewelry store in Arlington Heights this week.
The thieves hit Wednesday afternoon at Persin and Robbin Jewelry Store on South Dunton Avenue.
Police did not release information about the robbery until Friday. They said employees were inside the store – which has a door that is kept locked and that customers need to buzz for entry.
A woman was buzzed in, and two men came in right behind her with hammers and began smashing display cases, police said.
As of Friday, there was no estimate for how much was stolen, but police said it did include several high-end pieces.
Police do not know for sure whether the woman was an accomplice with the men, but they believe she was.
Detectives late Friday were still investigating. Police said no security footage had been released as of late Friday.
