Arkush: Goodell Could Be 'Worst Commissioner In History Of Sports'
CHICAGO (WSCR) On Monday, a judged lifted the NFL's lockout of the players union, in essence opening back up the business of the NFL. It's decision considered to be a win for the players, and a decision that prompted a response from Roger Goodell.
In an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal, Goodell said that "the decision may endanger one of the most popular and successful sports leagues in history."
"I kind of like Roger Goodell," Hub Arkush, of Pro Football Weekly and 670 The Score, said on the Danny Mac Show. "But he might go down as the worst commissioner in the history of sports.

"The players have already offered, repeatedly, to continue to play this year under the 2010 league rules, which were punishment to them because you had to be free agent after six years instead of four. They've said repeatedly they wanted to play out the last two years of this deal, they want to do another deal."
Goodell claims that the lawyers for the players union are pushing for a league with no NFL Draft, free agency, minimum salaries and certain player benefits.
"Roger Goodell makes more money, in salary, than 95-97% of the players in the NFL," Arkush said. "And at this point I have to ask myself what's he doing for it? He continually gets in front of cameras and rants about things that have nothing to do with this situation. Neither side envisions a league, or wants a future with no draft, no free agency or no salary cap, neither side."
