Arkush Evalutes The Future Of Matt Toeaina
One of the biggest surprises this season has been the outstanding play of defensive lineman Matt Toeaina.
"He's been around a while," Hub Arkush said on the Danny Mac Show when asked about Toeaina potential. "So I think he's as good as he's going to be right now. I don't know if he's continuing to improve, but I think he's a better player than we gave him credit for."

Right now, Toeaina is an integral part of the defensive line for a division winning team. But some wonder if he could become more than that.
"I, back in training camp, was wondering why he wasn't getting more playing time," Arkush said. "So I think he's a solid defensive tackle. I don't think he's anything special, but I definitely think he's a guy you can win with when you have Julius Peppers outside of him."
It's clear that Peppers is the type of player that can improve the teammates around him, but that doesn't meant that Toeaina's improvement is solely a product of Peppers' addition.
While Toeaina might not continue making big steps, like he has this season, ever since Tommie Harris' production started dropping off, the defensive line hasn't been as effective. Toeaina can still become a game altering force in the middle of the defensive line.
If that happens the Bears will continue to win because of Toeaina, and not just with him.
