Arkush: Bears 'Absolutely Should Be A Playoff Team'
(WSCR) It's tough to criticize the work new Bears general manager Phil Emery has done in his first few months with the team.
Emery has added depth at the wide receiver position, running back and special teams - something that one Bears expert thinks is enough to push the Bears to an elite status.
"I think the Bears have had an excellent offseason," Hub Arkush told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "I think they are clearly an improved roster heading into (training camp.) They are still not as good as the Packers. They probably have caught and possibly passed the Lions. I think they absolutely should be a playoff team with what they have. Once you get into the playoffs, who knows what happens?"

Arkush said no new face on the Bears roster should have more of an immediate impact than Brandon Marshall, the three-time Pro Bowler.
"It clearly starts with the wide receivers, because that was one of the team's two biggest problems," Arkush said. "They went out and got an elite wide receiver in Brandon Marshall. Now, the off-the-field stuff is well-documented. I don't know how this is going to play throughout the course of the season. ... Then, you go out and add Alshon Jeffery, who is not going to be a Pro Bowl receiver, but he is going to be a really nice complement to Brandon Marshall and Earl Bennett. You've taken a weakness and turned it into a potential strength."
