Arbitration Dates Set For Stalberg And Campoli
(CBS) The National Hockey League has set the arbitration hearings for this year's group of eligible players. Among them are two Blackhawks, Viktor Stalberg and Chris Campoli.
Stalberg, a forward acquired by the Blackhawks prior to last season, has his hearing scheduled for July 20. And Campoli, a defenseman acquired by the Blackhawks at the trade deadline, will have his hearing on August 3.
The Blackhawks can still negotiate and agree on a contracts with both players prior to the arbitration hearings.
Last season, Blackhawks goalie Antti Niemi was awarded a one-year $2.75 million contract during his hearing. The Blackhawks, faced with severe salary cap constraints, chose not to sign Niemi and he became an unrestricted free agent, eventually signing with the San Jose Sharks.
This season the Blackhawks have a much more favorable salary cap situation, and both Campoli and Stalberg are expected to return to the Blackhawks.
