Argyle Station Reopens On Red Line, Berwyn Stop Closes For Renovation
CHICAGO (CBS) -- One more station has closed and another is reopening after getting a face-lift on the CTA's Red Line.
The Argyle station reopened at 10 p.m. Friday, and is the fourth to reopen after being spruced up with fresh paint, new windows, platform replacement and other work to the station house and adjacent tracks and viaducts.
It's part of an $86 million, seven-station makeover designed to last only until CTA officials decide how the transit agency will rebuild the north Red Line.
At midnight Friday, another Red Line station closed for repairs, three blocks to the north of Argyle, at Berwyn.
The Berwyn stop is expected to reopen in mid-November.
The 92/Foster, 144/Marine-Michigan Express, 146/Inner Drive-Michigan Express and 151/Sheridan buses that normally serve the Berwyn station will be rerouted during the repairs, to serve the Bryn Mawr station instead.
