Argument Over Crying Baby Leads To Arrest
PORTAGE, Ind. (STMW) -- A fight about whose turn it was to get up and check on a crying 4-month-old led to a man being arrested Sunday.
Dustin Durbin, 29, was arrested on charges of choking and domestic battery in front of a child, both felonies, and misdemeanor interfering with the reporting of a crime, police said.
The 28-year-old victim told police the baby started crying at about 7 a.m. Sunday, and she repeatedly nudged Durbin and told him it was his turn to get the baby.
Instead, she told police, Durbin rolled on top of her, grabbed her by the hair while shaking her head and yelling at her, then allegedly pressed his forearm across the front of her neck, making it difficult for her to breathe.
When he let go, he reportedly took the woman's cell phone and left the home, in the 6000 block of Mulberry Avenue.
Durbin was arrested at about 8:30 a.m. at his parents' Hobart home.
