Area Gas Prices Hold Steady In November
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Gas prices in Illinois and Indiana remain basically unchanged in November from a month ago, due largely to increasing oil prices and a fluctuating global economy, the AAA reported Monday.
Monthly average prices in Illinois were $3.49, according to AAA Chicago's most recent Fuel Gauge Report. The Illinois average for regular unleaded remained flat during the past month, but is still 51 cents higher than November 2010's price.
As of Monday morning, the average price in the city of Chicago was $3.49, according to AAA. This is lower than the $3.56 from a month ago, but higher than last year's price per gallon of $3.02.
In northern Indiana, gas prices average $3.34, which is even from October 2011 and up $.47 from November 2010.
- In Cook County, self-serve regular unleaded averages $3.64, even from last month and 51 cents higher than last year.
- In DuPage County, self-serve regular averages $3.53, a 3-cent increase from October and up 53 cents from last year.
- In Kane County, self-serve regular averages $3.50, which is 2 cents higher than last month and 52 cents higher than November 2010.
- In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular averages $3.48, which is 1 cent higher than last month and up by 53 cents from last year.
- In Will County, self-serve regular averages $3.49, which is 3 cents higher than last month and 51 cents higher than last year.
- In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded averages $3.35 per gallon, a 1-cent increase from October's average and 48 cents higher than a year ago.
