Archdiocese: Cardinal Rested, Facing More Tests After Cancer Diagnosis
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago has an update on Francis Cardinal George, who is once again facing a cancer diagnosis.
The archdiocese has released a statement which says: the cardinal "rested at home this weekend and was actively engaged in a number of his administrative responsibilities. This week he will continue additional testing, participate in his annual retreat and maintain his previously scheduled public commitments."
The statement also says information about the cardinal's future schedule will be announced after he meets with his doctors about a course of treatment.
On Friday, the archdiocese announced that tests on Francis Cardinal George found cancerous cells in his kidney and in a nodule that was removed from his liver.
Six years ago, the cardinal had surgery for bladder cancer.
