Arcade For Adults Planned In Orland Park
ORLAND PARK, Ill. (STMW) - The former Orland Square Theatre will be razed to make room for a Dave & Busters restaurant and arcade, according to a proposal that will be considered Jan. 17 by a village board committee.
The Dallas-based company would build a 23,600-square-foot restaurant, arcade and sports bar on the property, northeast of LaGrange Road and 151st Street and adjacent to Orland Square Mall.
The theater's six screens went dark in February 2001, and the building long has been an eyesore. Various plans have been floated over the years for the property, which at one time was among the Southland's premier movie venues.
The village board's development services and planning committee on Jan. 17 will consider a special use zoning permit for the restaurant.
The village plan commission on Jan. 11 voted unanimously to recommend the redevelopment to village trustees. The village board has final approval on the permit request.
Dave & Busters' plans include a 280-seat restaurant and parking for 295 vehicles.
There are now two Dave & Busters in Illinois, in Chicago and Addison.
The theater building was among several closed when owner Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corp. filed for bankruptcy in 2001.
