Applicants Line Up For Event Permits
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The race is on this morning for the first Special Events Permit of the new year.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Mary Frances Bragiel reports, hearty souls are bundled up and braving the cold to be among the first in line for the permits at the city's Department of Park Services, 541 N. Fairbanks Ct.

While he might have been working in four-hour shifts, Bob Kolada, as his teeth chattered, said the wait was well worth it.
"I'd be just sitting at home anyway," Kolada said.
Kolada is a line holder for Player's Sports Group Chicago, and is slated to receive the first special events permit thru the Chicago Park District.
Next to him was Dan Leese, who had also been holding a spot, working in shifts for the Chicago Sport and Social Club.
"I heard last year was a lot worse. This year, I mean, it's not real bad. It's cold, but I mean, you put on a couple of layers and stuff," he said.
In order to get the application processed, it had to be delivered, in person today.
Otherwise, according to the Park Services website, those applications filed on line would be processed on Tuesday.
