Appellate Court: Peoples Gas Can't Charge Consumers To Replace Pipes
CHICAGO (CBS) -- For the last six months, Chicago residents have been paying more for natural gas, but that is about to end.
As WBBM Newsradio's Michele Fiore reports, the Illinois Appellate Court says People's Gas can no longer try to recover costs of replacing old pipes as it has been since April, with an additional charge on consumer's monthly bill.

Citizens Utility Board spokesman Jim Chilsen says the ruling is good news.
"We were really happy that the Appellate Court struck down an illegal charge," he said.
Peoples Gas spokeswoman Bonnie Johnson says the utility has not yet decided whether to appeal.
"We're disappointed. Right now, we're reviewing the court's decision and carefully evaluating our options," she said.
It also remains unknown when the infrastructure adjustment charge may be removed.
