Nursing Home, Apartment Building Evacuated Due To Flooding In Hillside
HILLSIDE (CBS) -- Flooding in west suburban Hillside on Thursday morning has led emergency personnel to evacuate a nursing home and two apartment buildings.
The residents of apartments were evacuated from a one-story building at Oak Ridge and Roosevelt Road about 7 a.m., Hillside police Chief Joe Lukaszek said.
Flooding also caused the residents to be evacuated from the basement of a three-story condo building in the 600 block of Wolf Road, he said.
There were no injuries and it was unclear how many people were displaced, Lukaszek said.
Oak Ridge Nursing and Rehab at 323 Oakridge Ave. in Hillside, was being evacuated about 9:30 a.m. because of flooding, a Hillside Fire Dept. lieutenant said.
The Hillside Fire Department was in need of boats as they try to evacuate some of the residents.
The residents are being relocated to McAllister Nursing home in Country Club Hills.
