AP Twitter Feed Hacked: Tweet About White House Explosion Bogus
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Hackers briefly took over the Associated Press' Twitter account and posted a tweet about a bogus explosion at the White House that injured the president.
Other AP accounts, including their breaking news and Stylebook feeds, were not compromised.
Twitter suspended the main Associated Press account.
There have been other attacks on media Twitter pages in recent days, including on CBS' "60 Minutes" and "48 Hours."
The fake tweet on the AP account read: "Breaking: Two Explosions in the White House and Barack Obama is injured."
The tweet also caused a brief drop on the stock market, but it quickly recovered, according to several reports.
