Antioch Area Man Indicted For Woman's Murder
WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) -- An Antioch area man accused of murdering his long-time partner has been indicted by a Lake County grand jury on first-degree murder charges.
Michael Axtell, 41, is charged with killing Tammy Stone, 40.
She was killed in early October after she called her daughter to tell her that Axtell had struck her in the eye at their home in Antioch Township. Stone's daughter arrived to the Bond Avenue residence to find her mom with a swollen and blackened left eye, authorities said.
Stone's daughter and Axtell got into a physical altercation regarding Stone's injuries. The uninjured daughter started to exit the home thinking her mom was following her, authorities said.
Stone's daughter heard a suspicious noise inside the home and returned to find her mother unconscious.
Axtell is in custody at Lake County Jail in lieu of $3 million bond.
His arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 8.
