Anti-Cruelty Society Takes In 27 Dogs From Puppy Mills
CHICAGO (WBBM/CBS) -- The Chicago Anti-Cruelty Society is welcoming 27 new additions.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Lisa Fielding reports, more than two dozen dogs that were rescued from three different puppy mills in Missouri will be making Chicago their new home.
"The majority of dogs are small-breed dogs – Pomeranians; I think they said there was a French bulldog, which isn't that small – but smaller breeds, and of all ages, so we're getting puppies, but we're also getting some of the breeding stock," said Anti-Cruelty Society president Dr. Robyn Barbiers.
Barbiers says 124 dogs in all from the Missouri puppy mills are being placed throughout the country. The 27 in Chicago will be adoptable after they are checked out with a veterinarian.

Some of them should be ready for adoption this weekend, the Anti-Cruelty Society told CBS 2.
Barbiers says the agency has received hundreds of dogs from puppy mill raids since last April, which have since been placed with loving families.
Meanwhile, PAWS Chicago rescued 17 dogs from the same puppy mills. those dogs should be ready for adoption on Friday.
