Anonymous Tip Leads Cops To 7,000 Pounds Of Pot
CHICAGO (STMW) - An anonymous tip led police to a warehouse in the Englewood neighborhood and the discovery of about 7,000 pounds of cannabis hidden among pallets of cilantro.
Using information provided by an anonymous tipster, Chicago Police Narcotics officers arrived at the warehouse in the 2100 block of West 74th Street and spoke with the warehouse's owner, a release from police said.
The owner said he wasn't aware of any illegal activity taking place and agreed to allow officers to conduct a search, the release said.
Officers conducted a search of the warehouse and discovered the cannabis bundled and hidden among pellets of cilantro.
In total, officers recovered approximately 7,000 pounds of marijuana, which has a street value estimated at $20 million.
No one is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
