Ann Lurie Lists Gold Coast Mansion For $18.7 Million
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Philanthropist Ann Lurie is selling her Gold Coast mansion, asking $18.75 million for the 120-year-old limestone masterpiece.
That price puts the home in the upper reaches of real estate in Chicago. It is the second-most-expensive listing within the city limits--only the full top floor of the Trump Tower is selling for more ($32 million). Only a few homes in the suburbs, such as Michael Jordan's Highland Park estate ($21 million), are selling for more.
The 12 bedroom, 12 bathroom, 18,590 square foot home on North Dearborn was built in 1891.
Lurie has given millions of her fortune to charity, most notably $100 million for the new Lurie Children's Hospital in Streeterville.
Ann Lurie is the widow of Robert H. Lurie, who made his fortune in real estate development.
The home has maintained is original millwork and stained glass, including a stunning octagonal skylight in the center of the kitchen.
The home also has professional landscaping in an unusually large yard for the neighborhood, an elevator and parking for 10 cars, meaning there would be no need to worry about street parking.
With a 20 percent down payment, with a 3.9 percent, 30-year mortgage, the home could be yours for $70,750 a month.
