Angelo: Forte Contract Talks Put Off Until End Of Season
(CBS) Bears running back Matt Forte is still looking for a new contract, but he's going to have to wait until the end of the season.
Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said Monday on WBBM-AM 780 & 105.9 FM that the two sides have agreed to put off talks until the season is over.
"We've decided that we're just going to focus on the season and that's something we talked about when we went into the negotiations," Angelo told WBBM. "We were hopeful, I'm not saying the door is shut, but right now our focus is going to be on the season.
Forte is currently only making $555,00 in the final year of his current contract.
"There was a mutual understanding," Angelo said. "We visited a few times. In our last meeting we felt like with the season upon us that right now we want to focus and Matt wants to focus on the season and having the great year that we all expect and know that he will."
