Chicago White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn took advantage of a day off Tuesday to play a little baseball with kids at La Rabida Children's Hospital in Jackson Park.

Vaughn and his wife, Lexi, visited around 100 inpatient and outpatient families. They gave out some Sox gear as well.

Meanwhile, the White Sox have wrapped up spring training and Cactus League play out in Arizona.  They will hold a workout at Rate Field Wednesday afternoon ahead.

Expectations are still not very high for the Sox after their record-breaking count of losses last year, but there is anticipation to get a new season going with a mostly new roster.

"We're excited — you know, a really new group, a lot of new guys, and you know, we're excited to get after it on Thursday. We had a good spring, and I feel like we're ready. It's been the biggest thing just getting to know each other, how want to — what our identity is going to be," Vaughn said. "We're going to go out there every day and play our best baseball."

The White Sox will open the season with a matchup with the Los Angeles Angels at Rate Field, formerly Guaranteed Rate Field, at 3:10 p.m. Thursday.
