Amtrak Train To Chicago Halted In Central Illinois
NEPONSET, Ill. (CBS) -- An Amtrak train headed for Chicago was halted Tuesday morning when it hit a utility truck on the tracks in central Illinois.
Passengers on Train No. 380 on the Illinois Zephyr Line were delayed after the crash with a tree-trimming truck near Neponset, Ill. The accident disabled the train, and a freight locomotive must be brought in to tow the train so it can finish its run, Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said.
As of 11 a.m., the train was still stranded as Amtrak awaited the replacement locomotive.
No one was injured in the crash, Magliari said.
The Illinois Zephyr Line runs between Chicago's Union Station and the Mississippi River city of Quincy.
