American Airlines Employee Arrested For Trying To Bring Gun On Plane

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An American Airlines flight attendant was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bail Saturday for allegedly trying to bring a gun onto an airplane at O'Hare International Airport.
Sheila A. Schultz, 65, was taken into custody at a security checkpoint about 9:30 a.m. Friday after she "tried to board an aircraft with a weapon," police said.
She was on her way to a flight to China, Cook County prosecutors said.
Schultz -- of the 1200 block of North Grove in Palatine -- was charged with a class 4 felony count of trying to board an aircraft with weapon and one misdemeanor count of firearm without a valid FOID, according to a police statement.
An X-ray machine detected a gun in Schultz's carry-on luggage, authorities said.
An American Airlines spokesperson declined to comment, citing a company policy of not commenting on security matters and active police investigations.
