Alleged Molester Soccer Coach Hit With More Charges

JOLIET, Ill. (CBS) -- Serious legal trouble has been compounded for a Will County soccer coach already charged with molesting a 12-year-old boy.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bob Conway reports, Darrell Stephenson, 24, of Crest Hill, is now also charged with possessing child pornography.

Police found digital photos and videos of child pornography on Stephenson's hard drive while investigating the sexual abuse charges against him, according to the Will County's State's Attorney's office.

Stephenson was being held in lieu of $750,000 bail, and a judge Thursday added another $150,000 bail for the child pornography charges.

He was arrested on the original charges a week ago following an investigation that implicated him as having had sexual contact with the boy, according to the county Sheriff's office.

Stephenson had been a youth soccer coach in various local soccer programs including those in Frankfort, Plainfield and Joliet. He also served previously as a student teacher at Aux Sable Middle School in Joliet, and an assistant boys' volleyball coach at Plainfield High School.

Police continue to investigate whether he had inappropriate contact with any other children.
