All White Sox Need From Dunn And Rios Is Their 'Track Record'
CHICAGO (WSCR) There seems to be a quiet optimism among Chicago White Sox fans that their team will dig themselves out of the hole they put themselves in and compete for the division title.
If they're going to do that, they'll need both Adam Dunn and Alex Rios to break out of their season-long slumps. And the best way for that to happen might just be for Ozzie Guillen to keep playing them, hoping they can swing themselves back to form.
"Well you gave to," Joe Cowley, of the Chicago Sun-Times, said on the Danny Mac Show. "What are you going to do? You can try to fit guys and move them down in the order for so long, and use your Brent Lillibridges if you feel like it's a better matchup that day.
"When push comes to shove, you need the big boys to come through. I mean, that's what they're paid to do. That's what you counted on."

Dunn is known as a power hitter who strikes out a lot, but so far this season has only hit five home runs and his hitting 68 points below his career average, Rios is hitting 76 points below his career average.
But as bad as Dunn and Rios have been, players like Paul Konerko and Carlos Quentin are doing enough to keep the White Sox somewhat alive.
"You don't even have to have a career year [from Dunn and Rios]," Cowley said. "But you need them to follow the track record, and especially Dunn, is not even close to what his usual, you know, 35 to 40 home runs track record is, 100 plus RBI, he's not even close."
