All-Access Look At The Top Contenders For Mayor
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The race for mayor of Chicago is entering its final days, with Election Day coming up on Tuesday. CBS 2 has been taking an up-close look at the campaigns of the four top contenders to succeed Mayor Richard M. Daley.
CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine started his behind-the-scenes tours of the major candidates' campaigns with City Clerk Miguel del Valle, who has perhaps the longest shot at winning of any of the top four candidates , but seems to have been gaining momentum lately.
Next up was frontrunner Rahm Emanuel, former Congressman and White House chief of staff. Levine followed Emanuel's campaign on Wednesday as he criss-crossed the city, meeting with voters, public school students and local business owners.
On Friday, former U.S. Senator and ambassador Carol Moseley Braun took Levine behind the scenes of the nerve center of her operation, though she was more than a little nervous about showing off every aspect of her campaign strategy.
On Saturday, Levine followed former Chicago Board of Education President Gery Chico on a busy day of campaigning during the last weekend before the election. Chico is considered the candidate with the best chance to force a runoff with Emanuel.
