Air Traffic Control Furloughs May Lead To Big Delays
CHICAGO (CBS) -- There could be delays at O'Hare and other major airports when a furlough of air traffic controllers kicks in this Sunday.
The 10 percent cut in staff is required under the so-called automatic "sequestration" budget cuts.
Federal Aviation Administrator Michael Huerta and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood are vowing to ensure the continued safety of air travel--despite the budget constraints.
Delays at O'Hare are estimated to go as high as 2 hours, with an average of over 50 minutes.
