Air Raid Siren Wakes Up West Dundee At 4 a.m.
WEST DUNDEE, Ill. (CBS) -- Residents of West Dundee were less than thrilled with an early-morning wakeup call Wednesday morning.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, a town warning siren went off for no reason around 4 a.m. and concerned residents began flooding the police department with calls.
West Dundee police Sgt. Dan Haynes says at least 100 people called.
Haynes says the siren had been serviced on Tuesday and that apparently there was a "glitch" that caused it to go off in the pre-dawn hours.
The West Dundee Fire Department responded to the siren at Route 31 and Boncosky Road, and turned off the power to stop it from sounding around 5 a.m.
