Aikman: Giants Win Super Bowl Behind Strong Coughlin
(WSCR) With his team's Super Bowl win Sunday night, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has now moved into an elite category of head coaches in NFL history.
One NFL expert said it was Coughlin's spirit that brought the Giants to the top of the NFL after finishing the regular season 9-7.
"I've said it a lot of times, I'm a big fan of Tom Coughlin and the Giants, the way they go about doing things," Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I wondered this year if this team would ever really take on the identity of their head coach. I think most teams do. They finally did late, and it was a pretty remarkable year for that team."

Even after their second Super Bowl loss to the Giants, Aikman doesn't think this is it for Tom Brady and the Patriots.
"I was surprised to see the Patriots in the Super Bowl because the defense, in my opinion, was really poor," Aikman said. "They made up for it in some areas in being able to create some takeaways. In a lot of ways, Tom Brady carried that team to the Super Bowl. I think that when you say, 'Well, are the Patriots now in the past tense, or, are their best years behind them?' I don't know that I'd necessarily say that. The thing that's impressive to me is the way that Tom Brady has taken these various teams to the Super Bowl. ... They've done it with different players and really a different approach offensively."
