Aikman: Bears Falling Apart Without Cutler
(WSCR) It's no secret the Bears offense has struggle since Jay Cutler went down with a thumb injury.
Caleb Hanie has looked less than prepared, and the Bears are on a three-game losing streak since he took over. In the Bears 13-10 overtime loss to the Broncos, the defense gave up only one touchdown for the second straight week, yet the offense couldn't muster up enough points to win.
"That's the problem," Hall of Famer Troy Aikman told The Mully and Hanley Show. "When you get into games like that when you're playing really good defense but your offense is struggling, the games get so tight that just one little mistake here or there is what ultimately costs you the game."

Aikman believes the loss of Cutler is the reason for the demise of the Bears season, and that it's not an accurate reflection of the work of general manager Jerry Angelo.
"This is a team that lost their starting quarterback, was playing very well and then has struggled since they lost that player," Aikman said. "Would things be different right now if Jay Cutler were still healthy? We don't know definitively the answer to that, but there's a good chance they would've won one, two or three of the games that they've now lost. ... I think it's a very difficult position to be in as general manager because you don't really know what you have, especially after these drafts, until three or four years down the road."
