After 4-Year Absence, Neal Cotts Returns To Baseball
(CBS) Neal Cotts had not pitched in the big leagues since May 25, 2009 when he was with the Cubs.
Until Tuesday.
That's when the former World Series Champion with the White Sox made an incredible return with the Texas Rangers, throwing a scoreless inning against the Oakland Athletics. Wednesday night, Cotts took the mound again and struck out four in two innings.
But the three innings he threw in the last two days doesn't even match the amount of surgeries he has had since 2009: one Tommy John Surgery on his left elbow and four surgeries on his right hip.
That's why team after team passed on giving Cotts another chance. But that changed this year with the Rangers.
