After 3 Months Running Archdiocese, Cupich Still Learning To Balance His Time
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Three months into his tenure has head of the Catholic Church in Chicago, Archbishop Blase Cupich said he wishes there were 10 days to a week, instead of seven, with all that he'd like to accomplish.
"I've entered not a sprint, but a marathon, and I have to be patient with myself; but it is clear to me that there are people who have many genuine requests for time, and my attention, and I just hope that I can get over the frustration of not being able to accept all of those invitations," he said.
Cupich said he understands all the requests for some of his time.
"Part of it is due to the newness; a new face in town," he said.
The archbishop said, whenever he's with people, he tries to make sure he gives them enough one-on-one time.
"When I do go to a place, a parish – we had the six Vicariate [welcome] masses – I want to make sure that enough time is scheduled to really be with people. I don't want to just rush in and out," he said.
Even with his busy schedule, Cupich said he does make sure he takes off enough time to recharge.
