Addison Man Gets 18 Years For Sexual Assault Of Young Relative
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A west suburban man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old relative over the course of more than three years.
Alfredo Sedeno, 53, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to the DuPage County state's attorney's office.
Between October 2011 and January 2015, Sedeno sexually assaulted the girl at her home while her mother was working, prosecutors said. The assault was revealed when the girl told her mother what he had done.
The girl's mother called Addison police, who contacted the DuPage County Children's Center.
Sedeno, of Addison, has been in custody since his arrest on June 12, 2015.
"This young victim was forced to endure a terrible sexual assault committed by a family member who was responsible for watching over her while her mother worked," State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
"But instead of taking care of her, Mr. Sedeno sexually assaulted her just to satisfy his sick sexual desires. Following the assault, this brave young girl showed tremendous courage in disclosing to her mother what Mr. Sedeno had done to her," Berlin said.
Judge Brian Telander sentenced Sedeno to 18 years in prison, according to the state's attorney's office. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
