Addison Man Gets 10 Years For Possession Of Child Porn

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for possessing child porn in his west suburban Addison home.

David Prefountain, 50, pleaded guilty to one Class 1 felony count of possession of child pornography, according to a statement from the DuPage County state's attorney's office. Judge Brian Telander imposed the 10-year sentence.

The Addison Police Department received information about the possibility of child porn activity in September 2015 and the investigation led them to Prefountain, prosecutors said.

Prefountain was arrested Sept. 16, 2015 after officers executed a search warrant at his home and found a Kindle tablet containing multiple images of child pornography, prosecutors said. He was held at the DuPage County Jail on a $750,000 bond.

"Child pornography continues to claim hundreds of thousands of innocent victims year after year," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert B. Berlin said in the statement. "And the sick individuals who deal this filth use technology to produce, access, share and collect these revolting images. Technology however, can work both ways and thanks to the cooperative efforts of law enforcement and their technical savvy, the sick individuals who engage in this type of behavior will be caught and brought to justice."

He is required to serve at least 50 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, prosecutors said. Prefountain was also ordered to pay $2,032 in fines and court costs.
