Manny Ramirez could be headed to the South Side
The Chicago White Sox have expressed interest in acquiring OF Manny Ramirez. It is expected that once Ramirez is activated off the the disabled list the Dodgers will place him on the waiver wire.
It was Kenny Williams, who last year, claimed Alex Rios off waivers and has said in the past that there is always potential for moves to be made beyond the non-waiver trade deadline. The interest from the White Sox was first reported in a tweet by FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal. Later on The Score's very own White Sox inside Joe Cowley tweeted that Williams was "pushing all his chips on getting Manny Ramirez" and that Williams thought Ramirez could improve the whole team.
Other teams rumored to be interested in the slugger are the Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers. However, the White Sox would have the chance to claim him before either of those teams did, increasing the chances of Manny coming to Chicago.
If Ramirez were to be successfully claimed by the White Sox, he would more than likely fill the role of DH opposed to contributing in the field. Ramirez has a long history of bone headed outfield plays and at this point in his career would be better suited as a DH for the Sox.
