About 80 Dogs Rescued From Kankakee Breeding Facility
(CBS) -- About 80 small dogs and puppies have been rescued from neglectful conditions at a breeding facility at a home in Kankakee, reports WBBM's Terry Keshner.
The group Animal Rescue Core, which took the dogs from the home, says the Chihuahuas, Shih Tzus, Yorkshire Terriers, and Poodles were found crowded into small pens, suffering from untreated and painful eye infections, respiratory conditions and dental issues.

"It's all about making money," says Michael Cunningham of ARC. "There is no compassion with any of this. There is no love. These dogs never get touched."
Now they will get new homes.
"We can begin placement with a network of placement partners that we have and they will be tasked with finding homes for all of these animals," Cunningham said.
The group ARC says the began looking into the facility after receiving a tip from The Puppy Mill Project.
PAWS Chicago helped transport the dogs for ARC.
"The animals taken today from the raid are currently being housed and medically treated at an emergency shelter that has been set up in Kankakee," PAWS Chicago spokeswoman Sarah Ahlberg said. "We are expecting to take in some of the dogs as soon as they are released to shelters and rescue groups--hopefully this week."
