About 24 Displaced In Suburban Apartment Fire

ELGIN, Ill. (STMW) - About 24 people were displaced in a Friday night apartment fire in northwest suburban Elgin.

Emergency personnel responded about 9:30 p.m. Friday to a call of smoke coming from an apartment at 330 Kathleen Dr. in Elgin and found a stove fire that spread to cabinets and adjacent apartments, according to a statement from Elgin spokeswoman Susan Olafson.

About two dozen people were displaced, but nobody was injured, Olafson said. Red Cross representatives were on the scene assisting the displaced families.

Fire officials continue their investigation late Friday.
