Abbatacola: Rain Ends Garza's Night; Cubs Lose
By Matt Abbatacola-
CHICAGO (CBS) Starting pitcher Matt Garza, looked good and felt good on the mound.
"I had good stuff tonight," he said. "I feel like I've been battling the rain all year."
Garza threw five innings, giving up two runs on five hits.
"I looked up at the bottom of the fifth when I walked out and I had only seventy-some pitches ... I was like oh yes, I'm gonna go deep and then the rains came."
The game was stopped in the top of the sixth as the Cubs had runners on first and third with only one out. The delay would last for almost two hours and Garza's night was over.
Carlos Pena hit his second homer in as many days. It was his 13th on the season and only his second against a left-handed pitcher this year.
Starlin Castro continues to have a hot bat. He has hit safely in his last six games (.500, 12-24). He also recorded his 29th multi-hit game this season.
The rubber match Wednesday night features Doug Davis opposing Jake Peavy.
