Abbatacola: Cubs Fall To Brewers 9-5

CHICAGO (CBS) The Cubs haven't won three games in a row this entire season - that difficult truth was evident in Mike Quade's mood during his post-game press conference.
When asked about Carlos Zambrano's last two outings in which he has surrendered 12 runs, Quade seemed angry with the question. He said that it wasn't "vintage Z", but that he pitched well and didn't have the "success" that he wanted. Zambrano is 0-2 with an 8.76 ERA in his last two starts.
When Zambrano entered the interview room, he was somber and spoke about his last two outings. He mentioned how the club had won two in a row going into his last start and that he failed to get the job done. Tonight, he entered the game with a his team having won back-to-back games once again and looking for Zambrano to get that elusive third consecutive victory.
It was very clear to me that the team is well aware of the fact that they are the only team in MLB to not have a three game winning streak.
Jeff Baker and Reed Johnson each homered in the loss. Baker's homer gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Johnson's 3-run homer brought the Cubs within one run of the Brewers. It made the score 5-4. Milwaukee added two runs in the seventh and one each in the eighth and ninth.
