AA Flight Diverted Into O'Hare Due To Passenger
UPDATED 04/07/11 1:08 p.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Paris-bound American Airlines flight from Dallas had an unexpected stop at O'Hare International Airport tonight after an unruly passenger prompted the pilots to make an unscheduled landing.
CBS 2's Mike Parker reports.
The unidentified passenger was removed from the flight, which was scheduled to go direct to Paris, without incident, according to American Airlines spokesman Jim Faulkner.
American Airlines said Thursday that the passenger was belligerent and combative with the flight crew, and was believed to be intoxicated.
Air marshals had to intervene to subdue the man, whom American Airlines described only as a French national.
Following the incident, the airliner was refueled to continue the trip, Faulkner said.
The passenger was turned over to Chicago Police, American Airlines said. After questioning, he was ultimately released without charges and allowed to return to Paris.
