9-Year-Old Boy, Woman Shot In Englewood

CHICAGO (STMW) - A 9-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman were shot inside a house in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

The two were in a home in the 6400 block of South Racine Avenue about 10 p.m. when someone fired shots from outside the house, hitting both victims, police said.

The boy was hit in the chest and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago in critical condition, police said. The woman received a graze wound to the chest and was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center.

No one was in custody late Friday, police said.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
