9 Wounded In Tuesday Shootings Across Chicago
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Nine people were shot throughout the city on Tuesday, including two teenagers who were waiting for a bus.
A boy and a girl, both 15, were shot at 9:55 a.m. at a CTA bus stop on the Near West Side.
The teens were shot in the 2400 block of West Jackson when someone fired shots in their direction before running off, police said.
The boy was shot in the abdomen and was in serious condition; and the girl was shot in the leg and arm. Both of their conditions had stabilized at Stroger Hospital.
A woman, who did not want to be identified, said she was on the bus on her phone when the shooting happened.
She said four people were waiting to get on the bus when the fourth person in line—a male—opened fire on two others.
Most recently, a man shot in South Shore walked into a South Side hospital.
The man, 22, told officers he was walking in the 7100 block of South Jeffery when someone approached him from behind and started shooting, police said.
He showed up to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center at 8:05 p.m. with a graze wound to the head, police said. His condition had been stabilized as of 11:40 p.m.
A man was shot about 6:20 p.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.
The 18-year-old was getting out of his car in the 12200 block of South Emerald when he was approached by a male wearing a hoodie, who fired shots, police said.
The man was shot in the right leg and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized.
A man was shot about an hour earlier while sitting in a vehicle in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
The man, 23, was in a parked vehicle in the 5900 block of South Spaulding at 5:15 p.m. when someone on a bike rode past and fired shots, police said.
The man, shot in his left and right arms, was taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized.
A 16-year-old was shot four minutes earlier on the Southwest Side.
The boy was on the sidewalk in the 2900 block of West 25th Place at 5:11 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up, and someone who exited started shooting, police said. The boy was shot in the abdomen.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
A man was shot mid-morning in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.
The 24-year-old was shot in the abdomen at 10:40 a.m. in the 10400 block of South Wabash, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
Police said the shooter fled in a four-door white vehicle.
A shooting forty minutes earlier near Truman College on the North Side left a man critically wounded.
The man, 21, was shot in the head at 10 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Wilson and taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. Truman College is on the same block, but the shooting happened off-campus.
Police said the shooting appears to be a drive-by and the victim was not the intended target.
Two people are in custody for the day's first shooting, which happened in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.
A 29-year-old man was shot twice in the legs in the 7100 block of South Cyril Avenue, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
A weapon was recovered, police said.
